Artificial or intrauterine insemination (IUI) is the introduction of sperm into the uterine cavity using a special thin catheter in order to fertilise a woman. Artificial insemination with donor's sperm is a procedure where germ cells of the male donor are used for fertilisation. The efficiency of artificial insemination with donor's sperm depends primarily on the health of a woman. All spermatozoa used for insemination are active and viable. Male donors undergo a thorough examination and donor's sperm is also examined for compliance with strict criteria.
Intrauterine insemination using donor's sperm may be recommended for couples with diagnosed severe forms of male infertility or complete absence of spermatogenesis or viable sperm promising for artificial insemination.
Insemination with donor's sperm may be the solution for couples where a man is diagnosed with genetic pathology – in the case of failure of achieving pregnancy through in vitro fertilisation using pre-implantation genetic diagnostics of embryos.
Donor sperm insemination is the opportunity to become a mother for women who prefer not to be bound by family obligations while wanting to have children.
IMPORTANT: efficiency of insemination with donor's sperm depends on the health of a woman, so deciding in favour of insemination or IVF you must consider the important points of successful treatment, namely:
The first stage of intrauterine insemination with donor's sperm is a woman check-up. The examination results must confirm that she is healthy and has no contraindications for conception, pregnancy carrying and childbirth. The second stage is the selection of a donor. You can use our bank of sperm donors, otherwise the donor can also be a relative of your spouse or any person close to you and your family. In this case, the male donor should also undergo screening confirming his reproductive viability.
The third stage is the insemination procedure. It is a simple manipulation, during which a woman is awake on the gynaecological chair and the physician inserts an ultra-thin catheter with sperm into her vagina that reaches the uterus and then empties it. Insemination is painless and performed without anaesthesia. No recovery period is required; a woman can leave the clinic within a few hours.
Artificial insemination in our Riga Clinic is the best solution for your family. The frequency of pregnancy through artificial insemination using donor's sperm is up to 40%, depending on the age and health of a woman.
MAMA RIGA Clinic has its own donor's sperm bank. Also, we are cooperating with the largest in the world and most renowned European Cryo Bank Cryos (Denmark) founded in 1990 for many years. All our donors undergo a thorough complete examination and a biomaterial obtained is processed using special mediums, allowing to choose healthy and most promising spermatozoa for fertilisation.
If you prefer to have artificial insemination with the sperm of your own donor, we are ready to examine this man in the shortest possible time and confirm his participation in the procedure. We strongly recommend that you include genetic diagnostics of the future biological father into the check-up plan. Genetic pathology may not manifest itself in adulthood, still posing a serious danger to safe pregnancy carrying and giving birth to a healthy child.
IMPORTANT: In our clinic, it is possible to perform artificial insemination both during a natural cycle - without the use of ovulation stimulation in women - and using a controlled gentle activation of the ovaries. The decision about the necessity of ovulation stimulation shall be made by your consultant physician.
If the treatment utilising the method of artificial insemination yields no results for 3-4 cycles, the МАМА Riga Clinic's specialists recommend IVF. IVF allows applying a significantly larger number of methods for achieving a successful pregnancy and giving birth to a healthy baby in your family.
