IVF with vitrified eggs is an in vitro fertilisation programme, under which previously obtained and frozen (vitrified) ova are utilised. For insemination using sperm or a single spermatozoon, an embryologist defrosts ova, evaluates their condition, selects the most promising eggs and then performs IVF or IVF ICSI. A vitrification method is the most progressive and safe freezing method for eggs. After "thawing", the eggs restore all the functions necessary for fertilisation.
Indications for IVF with vitrified eggs
In vitro fertilisation with vitrified eggs is traditionally performed to achieve pregnancy, if previous treatment programme was unsuccessful, as well as for the consecutive pregnancy(-ies), when patients have a stock of vitrified eggs and want to give birth to another child or several children. In this case, the cost of IVF protocol is reduced because there is no need for stimulation of ovulation and follicular puncture.
IVF with vitrified eggs is also conducted when the eggs of an anonymous donor are used for fertilisation.
Vitrification of ova is a wonderful opportunity (sort of an "insurance policy") for every woman to retain her germ cells in order to achieve pregnancy through the use of assisted reproductive technology both at the lowest cost for the treatment and with the maximum safety for her health.
IVF with vitrified eggs at MAMA Riga Clinic
We successfully implement IVF cryo programmes using vitrified eggs: both the patient's eggs and donor female ova.
In our work, we apply the most innovative, effective and safe method of egg freezing – vitrification – that allows us to save the eggs' functions after "thawing" and ensure high efficiency of treatment under the cryo programmes.
If a physician obtains a large number of eggs as a result of a puncture of follicles, we recommend vitrification in women. If the current treatment protocol does not lead to pregnancy, then in the next cycle we can take another try and achieve pregnancy without assigning the ovulation stimulation and follicle obtaining procedure.
Our Clinic's equipment allows us to store eggs for virtually unlimited amount of time. If our patients decide to become parents again, we assign IVF with vitrified eggs and make their wish come true.
MAMA Riga Clinic may also perform IVF with vitrified eggs of anonymous donor. We have our own bank of eggs, and all our female donors pass a complete check-up of the body and mental health assessment; they are young, socially successful and already are mothers to their healthy children.
The frequency of pregnancy occurring as a result of the use of the "IVF with vitrified eggs" cryo programme is comparable to the treatment efficacy in the "fresh" protocol.
